Martina was born and raised in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where tennis played a significant role in her life. At 19, she accepted a Division I tennis scholarship in Texas, graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2005. Although she initially planned to return to Europe after graduation, her path changed when she became an Army wife and a pickleball professional, moving across the country with her husband Andrew, an Army Special Forces Officer (Green Beret).
In 2017, Martina discovered pickleball and went professional by 2018. After relocating from Colorado Springs to Miami, she became deeply involved in the South Florida pickleball scene. In 2019, she established a pickleball program at the prestigious Fisher Island in Miami and identified an opportunity to assist coaches in scaling their businesses.
Martina is now the CEO of My Pickleball Coach and a co-founder of the Provisional DUPR Rating Tool, also known as DUPR Coach. This platform enables coaches to generate Provisional DUPRs for the 34 million non-rated pickleball players in the U.S. through a straightforward technology tool. Martina also serves as the Global Ambassador for Dill Dinkers, continuing to promote and expand the sport she loves. Martina resides in Tampa, Florida and shares 3 active children with her husband Andrew; Scarlett (13) a competitive lacrosse player, Thayer (8) who loves baseball, fishing and playing electrical guitar and Harper (1) who enjoys going to the park and spending time with her family.
